Music connecting with audiences and musicians
As a string player, many of my works are written for strings. My influences are composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Brahms, Mahler, Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Sibelius, Stravinsky, Chopin, Grieg, Dvořák, Albéniz, Ravel, Mussorgsky, and so on. While I take some cues from these great composers, I like the thrill of discovery that comes with composing a complex piece of music.
Jesse Voogt a brief composer bio
Jesse Voogt is an award-winning composer who spent his early childhood in Aruba and the Netherlands, but has since lived in the USA. He studied music composition for a year at the ArtEZ conservatoire in the charming city of Zwolle, the Netherlands. Primarily a violinist, much of his work involves stringed instruments, starting with the Sinfonia he wrote for his high school string orchestra. His music ranges from works for solo piano, solo violin, and solo guitar to works for a full orchestra, and while it is often neo-Romantic, sometimes neo-Baroque, and occasionally pop-classical, his music is always driven by a strong sense of melody. Besides music, he also studied computer science, has a degree in architecture, and has built a career as a web developer - but while he has many interests, creating music is his constant and true passion.

- Last year I wrote Lalobach for solo violin, which Joshua Bell has kindly performed for me with a little help from Embertone :). This piece will likely be the first track in an upcoming album called Songs & Skirmishes for Strings, which involves several pieces with varying numbers of string instruments (violin, viola, cello, bass, etc).
- My first string quintet was announced as a WINNER of the 2018-2019 Cum Laude Music Awards based in Spain. The CLMA is an International Consonant Chamber Music Composition Contest held by the Non Profit Music Foundation. You can find last year's winners on an album titled In Crescendo, which is available on streaming services such as Amazon music or for download at Presto Music for example.
